Use a saved automation to import Webflow CMS items into a native project as JSON, translate them in Jobs, then write approved translations back to Webflow locales. Import never publishes to Webflow. Push to Webflow is a separate action.

Connect Webflow

  1. Open workspace Integrations and find Webflow, then paste a site API token and select Test token / Save.
  2. Generate the token in Webflow under Site settings → Apps & integrations → API access → Generate API token. Use a site token (not an OAuth app or workspace token).
  3. Grant these permissions on the token:
    • Sites: read (sites:read) — required. Platform rejects tokens without it.
    • CMS: read (cms:read) — required for import.
    • CMS: write (cms:write) — required for Push to Webflow write-back.
    • Components: read (components:read) — recommended for push write-back so component fields resolve.
  4. Confirm the connection shows as connected. If validation reports a missing scope (for example Missing cms:write scope required for push writeback), regenerate the token with that permission and paste it again.
The automation uses this Webflow connection. Connect Webflow before you add the Translate Webflow items skill.

Prepare the native project

Create or choose a native project, then set source and target locales under project Settings → Locales. Translation jobs, import, and push only use tags in that list: one sourceLocale and one or more targetLocales. Locales map automatically: exact tags match first, then a language-only Webflow locale covers every regional project locale of that language (Webflow en serves project en-US), then a lone regional entry matches its language. When several regional Webflow locales share a language with no language-only entry (for example project en against Webflow en-US and en-GB), the locale stays unmapped and is skipped instead of guessed; drop or add project targets in Hyperlocalise when Webflow and the project list diverge.

Create the automation

  1. Open workspace Automations and select New Automation.
  2. Apply the Translate Webflow items template, or add that skill from Add Skill.
  3. Attach the native project.
  4. Choose a scheduled or manual trigger. A schedule imports changed items. It does not push translations.
  5. Under Webflow, set:
    • Webflow connection and site
    • Collections to import
    • Webflow source locale (must match the native project sourceLocale or an allowed alias)
    • Target locales to translate
  6. Save the automation.

Import items

Run now or wait for the schedule. Import writes one JSON source file per CMS item under webflow/{siteId}/{collectionId}/{slug}.json. Review those files in the project like other source files. Import does not write translations to Webflow. When a secondary locale already has content in Webflow, import seeds it into the project according to Existing Webflow translations: Only empty locales (default) never overwrites project work, Refresh imported locales refreshes locales previously seeded by automation, and Overwrite all locales always seeds the remote content.

Review and push translations

  1. Translate and approve every visible string for a mapped locale.
  2. Open a Webflow item file in the Content editor. The header shows Push to Webflow for that file when at least one mapped locale is fully approved and no push is already running.
  3. Confirm the locale content appears in Webflow after you review it. Push writes staged secondary-locale drafts by default; enable Publish pushed locales live on the automation to publish them immediately. When an item has no variant in a secondary locale yet, push creates it with the translated content.

Change or remove access

Disconnect Webflow from Integrations when this workspace should stop using that token. Inspect automations that depend on the connection before you disconnect. Tokens are stored encrypted and can be rotated by pasting a new token over the existing connection. If a site or collection is missing, confirm the token’s site and that it still has sites:read and cms:read. See Connection troubleshooting.

If import or push does not run

  • Confirm Webflow is connected and the automation is Active.
  • Confirm the site, collections, and locale mapping match the Webflow site.
  • If Push to Webflow is missing, open a Webflow item file. The action stays hidden on other files. Confirm an active Webflow automation is attached to the project and you can manage automations.
  • If push reports a missing scope, regenerate the site token with CMS: write (and Components: read) and save it again.
  • Open Run History for the failed item or locale.
