AsciiDoc is a plain-text authoring format used for technical documentation, including Antora and Asciidoctor sites. Hyperlocalise translates prose and leaves structure, macros, and verbatim blocks unchanged. Supported extensions: .adoc, .asciidoc, .asc.

Source file

Save this example as locales/en-US/messages.adoc.

Configure your files

Use this i18n.yml for the example, or add its file mapping to your existing bucket. See path templates for other layouts.

Translate

Install the CLI and set OPENAI_API_KEY in your project’s .env.local or shell. You can also configure another AI provider.
The dry run previews the work. The second command writes translations to the configured target path and updates the lockfile.

Behavior and limitations

  • Translates document titles, headings, paragraphs, list items, description lists, table cells, admonitions, and block titles.
  • Consecutive non-blank lines form one paragraph. The translated paragraph is written as a single line.
  • Comments, attribute definitions, block macros, preprocessor directives, YAML front matter, and verbatim blocks stay unchanged.
  • Inline code, links, cross references, attribute references, bare URLs, anchors, passthroughs, and issue references such as #4580 are protected as placeholders. Link labels stay translatable.
  • include:: directives are preserved. Included files are not resolved. Upload each file on its own.
  • Segments use structural keys such as adoc.title and adoc.paragraph. Review generated files when you restructure source content.
