Google Drive
Connect Google Drive, choose folders or files on the Integrations page, and use a workspace automation to import supported files into a Hyperlocalise project. Translations are written back using the automation Translation output setting.Connect Google Drive
- Open workspace Integrations → Guidelines and find Google Drive, then choose Connect.
- Sign in with Google and approve access when prompted. Hyperlocalise reads files in folders you select and writes translated copies using the automation Translation output setting (
[vi-VN] overview.docx, overview [vi-VN].docx,overview_vi-VN.docx, orvi-VN/overview.docx). - After connecting, browse My Drive or a Shared drive, check folders and supported files, then choose Add folders. You can add or remove items anytime.
- Reconnect if Integrations shows that authorization expired or needs to be renewed.
Create the automation
- Open workspace Automations and create or edit an automation with the Translate Google Drive files skill (or apply the Translate Google Drive files template).
- Attach a native project and set source and target locales under project Settings → Locales.
- Select the connected Google Drive folders and files to import from, then choose Translation output.
- Use a manual trigger or schedule for import. Import does not push translations to Drive.
- Open an imported Drive file in the Content editor. Ingest and Push to Google Drive appear in the header for that file. Ingest queues the same import as Automations Run now. Use Push to Google Drive to write locale files back.
Supported files
Google Workspace files are exported before import. Other files are downloaded with their original extension when Hyperlocalise supports that format (same rules as native project upload).
Drive skips unsupported rows (✗) and any other file that is not a Hyperlocalise source format. For the full extension list, see Supported formats.
Write-back
For each target locale (defaults to the project’s target locales), Hyperlocalise creates or updates files using the automation Translation output. Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides are uploaded back as native Google file types when the source was a Google app file. Push writes Office, JSON/ARB, Lottie, plain text (.txt), and subtitles (.srt, .vtt, .sbv) in the original format. Other keyed formats (Markdown, HTML, CSV, PO, YAML, and similar) are skipped rather than written as JSON with the source extension.
Creating and updating Drive files
Push upserts translations per imported source file and target locale. It does not search Drive by filename.- First push for a locale creates a new file in the folder implied by Translation output, then stores that file’s Drive id on the sync record for that source.
- Later pushes upload into the same Drive file when translation content changed. Unchanged content is skipped (no Drive write).
- If you change Translation output or folder layout, Hyperlocalise moves the stored file into the new parent when it can; otherwise it creates a new file and updates the stored id. Old copies may remain on Drive if the previous file cannot be moved or was deleted outside Hyperlocalise.
- Files you added to Drive manually (or from an earlier workflow) are not merged by name. Only outputs from a prior successful push for that source and locale are updated.

If ingest or push does not appear
- Open a file imported from Google Drive. Ingest and Push to Google Drive stay hidden on Intercom, Sanity, Braze, and other project files.
- Confirm an active Drive automation is attached to the project and you can manage automations. Ingest stays available before any locale is push-ready.
- If Push to Google Drive is still missing, approve at least one mapped locale and wait until any in-progress push finishes.
Known limitations
- If Google Drive auto-converts an upload to a Google Doc, export returns DOCX and the original format (for example
.md) cannot be recovered. - Google Apps Script, Drawings, Forms, and Sites are not translated.
- ZIP and other archive files are skipped.
- PDF is skipped.
- Media and other files that are not Hyperlocalise source formats are skipped.
- Push skips keyed formats that do not yet have a format-aware writer (Markdown, HTML, CSV, PO, YAML, and similar). JSON, ARB, Lottie, Office, plain text, and subtitle files are written in the original format.
Limits
- 5,000 files shown in the Integrations folder browser (per folder listing).
- 5,000 files imported per automation run (additional matches are skipped).
- 10 nested folder levels when walking connected folders.
- 100 MB maximum file size per file.
